Introduction

The Department of History in Samajshree Prashantdada Hiray, Arts Science and Commerce College, Nampur, Tal- Baglan (Satana), Dist. Nasik is established in 1984. Since then the Dept. has been achieving academic success in its record. History as a special subject has been offered since 1998-99.

In the academic year 2022-23 the total strength of the Department was 405 students at U.G level, the remarkable co-curricular activity run by the Department was the competitive exam guidance cell established in 2010-11, 100 students the enrolled in the guidance cell. The Department has also alumni association. It’s a matter of pride for the Department that its past students are holding respectable positions in the society such as Lecturers, Teachers in senior and Junior colleges and schools and work in Administrative Services. The Department provides advanced facilities like computer and Internet to the students along with that the study material and previous exam question paper are also available to the student. The department is actively engaged in research in the field of socio-economic history and local history.

The programme becomes fruitful, meaningful and goal-oriented, when opportunities are given to students to utilize their creative talents and the training is given to achieve academic excellence enabling them to play their legitimate roles in society. Restructuring of curriculum is aimed at encouraging the students to view their culture through perspective of time and change. Courses offered are meant to prepare the students not only for future studies in History, but also to pursue their careers in law, administration, foreign relations and teaching.

The vision of department is to shape socially, responsible citizen by nurturing social ethics, providing, highest quality education in history with leadership quality and developing socio- economic and cultural activities to the society.

• The Department seeks to provide a unique learning experience for the students and to build and facilitate the students’ understanding of the elaborate social phenomenon in order for them to lead a life of greater awareness and responsible citizenship.
• The Department aims to be an open and welcoming spot for a healthy exchange of ideas and the encouragement of scholarly excellence.
• It encourages research activities among the students. Thereby the Department endeavors to equip and empower them to face challenges with confidence.

• 7. Understand the issues of environmental context and sustainable development.
• 8. Develop the skills to become tour Operators and Tourist guides.
• 9. Obtain qualitative training needed for Public Administration, Human Resources and Management to get placements in public and private sectors.

• 1. Recognize the political, socio-economic and religious history of local, regional, national and global levels which enables the learner to understand the current scenario.
• 2. Demonstrate knowledge of history and the historical terminologies in related fields pertaining to the current scenario.
• 3. Analyse the growth and the development of liberal ideas, various liberal movements and its impact on Globalization and to meet Global Challenges.
• 4. Develop entrepreneurial skills to engage as educators, archivists, and producers of multimedia material and as researchers in historic Sites and Museums, Historical Organizations, Cultural Resources Management and Historic Preservation etc.
