About Department

• - Department of Botany is the science department in our college teaching up to F. Y.B.Sc and S.Y.B.Sc level, established in 1984 and developed under the leadership of Dr. S. P. Khairnar, Dr. D. U. Ahire, Dr. D. S. Pagar, Dr. N. B. Pawar, Dr. D. G. Jadhav, Mr. S. S. Salave, Dr. M. D. Ahire, Dr. S. S. Tambe and Mr. Y. D. Sonawane.
• - Department has one spacious laboratory, one computer with internet facility. One faculty member is Ph. D holder.
• - Department organized lecture series for students entitled “Role of Biotechnology in Agriculture and today’s scenario and medicinal plants”. Department of Botany was also organized online webinar on topic CBG Shetkari Lakhpati Yojana (Organic Farming) for botany students and staff members to update their knowledge. Both programmes were initiated under the guidance of principal.
• - While teaching, faculties use LCD projector, charts, models, PPT’s, live plant materials, instruments, etc.
• - Faculty members participated in national and international conferences, workshops, seminars, FDP etc. and to enrich their profile, they published research papers in UGC care and reputed national and international journals.
• - Dr. M. D. Ahire published a reference book on medicinal plants.
• - Dr. M. D. Ahire awarded “Dalit Sahitya Award” in the year 2016.
• - Dr. D. P. Khairnar awarded “Life Time Golden Achievement Award”, “Global India Excellence Achievement Award” & “National Gold Medalist Padma Award” in the year 2021-2023.
• Department also organizes botanical excursion tours at different places (Balaji-Hi-Tech Nursery, field visits etc.). Department has taken continuous efforts for the maintenance of botanical and forest garden and also conducting tree plantation program in our college campus.
• - Displayed a name plate of college campus plants for awareness of plant nomenclature.
• - Department has done Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Balaji Hi-tech Nursery at Nampur and Linkage with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Malegaon at Vadel, Dist. Nashik.
• - Department is running a certificate course in “Edible Mushroom Cultivation, Marketing and Consumption” from academic year 2017-2018.

• - The objective of the department is to enrich the students academically and strive for their all over development.
• - To encourage novel thinking among the students.
• - To encourage them for conservation of biodiversity.
• - To provide them an opportunity for expression of academic talent.

• - To organize lecture series and science exhibition for the students.
• - To enrich botanical garden with ample and rare species of plant.
• - To organize the workshop, seminar and conferences.
• - To undertake minor research projects.
