About Department
The Marathi Department in The College has been started since June 1984 i.e. since the Establishment of the college. As the Marathi Department received a good number of students from the beginning, postgraduate courses were started in the Marathi department in June 2010. Since the establishment of the Marathi department, the department has benefited from learned professors. Prof. Mrs Sonawane, Prof. Mrs. Gosavi, Prof. Renowned professors like Deshmukh, Prof. Game, Prof. Bhamare, Prof. Pawar, Prof. Shewale, Prof. Jadhav, Prof. Gorwadkar, Prof. Shelke, Prof. Vasave, Prof. Gavit enriched the Marathi department. The average number of students in general subjects has always been around 400. The number of students for the special subject itself is around one hundred and seventy-five on an average every year. The average number of postgraduate students is around fifty. Generally, twenty-five hundred Marathi reference books and sixteen hundred textbooks are made available to the students in the library. The department has its own Independent Library. There is a separate library of about 150 books of reference and textbooks. Twenty-three Periodicals are available for the Marathi department in the college library. The department has adopted the curriculum of Pune University and from time to time, Pune University has adopted all the changes and conveyed them to the students. As per the 2019 pattern, Pune University decided to choose the best Credit System initially for postgraduate studies, the Marathi department also accepted the said method and forced the students to face the study and examination in this method. is done According to the criteria, the department has done group discussions, seminars, books, examinations, research papers, written tests, library work, presentations, short question writing, homework, and extension work from the students through the criteria set by the university. Apart from this, tests, oral examinations, and presentations are also always taken by the department for the development of ordnance students. Apart from this, the students are regularly prepared by the Department of Essay, Competition, Essay Competitions, and Debate Competitions from various colleges in the university area. The department has always maintained its quality in terms of results as well. An average result of eighty-five percent is a matter of reputation in the eyes of the Marathi department. The department has always organized National Level Seminars, Seminars, to motivate the students in terms of quality. Apart from this many programs are always organized by the Marathi department. Many programs such as Marathi Language Day, Reading Inspiration Day, and Inauguration of the Literature Board, Essay Competition, and Elocution Competition have always been skilfully implemented by the department. The Marathi department intends to start a research centre in the future. Apart from this, the Marathi department also intends to start a special guidance class for competitive exams. Apart from this, the department also intends to have a special tutorial on language and grammar. The department intends to have special classes for economically backward students and academically lagging students in the department. Apart from this, the Department of Marathi intends to develop a language laboratory for undergraduate and postgraduate departments. The department has implemented special, innovative activities for the students in the academic year 2020-21 and 2021-22. The first innovative initiative with the concept of “Folk Songs of Baglan Province” has been completed in the academic year 2020-21. Moreover, in the academic year 2021-22, the collection of proverbs, phrases, proverbs, proverbs and phrases of Baglan province was done by the students.
