About the Library

  • - The SPH Library is a central library started with the establishment of college in the year 1984; The Library has separate building of 5544 sq. (36.52 Sq. Mts.) Including separate reading room for boys & girls, the library is partially automated with Library Management Software VRIDDHI (Version 2.0 the Year 2019) previously and Campus 360 Version at present. The library department is reviewed by the Library Advisory Committee which recommends suggestions.

  • - At present Library holding 23347 books including textbooks, reference books, various types of Encyclopedias, directories, dictionaries, The Library subscribes 24 periodicals, journals & magazines & 14 News Papers. The library has taken earnest efforts to have a separate collection of Competitive exams. Pure drinking water, a separate washroom, ramp are made available. The books procured are accessioned manually and computerized also. The books are classified by the colon classification system and the arranged on the shelves in the stack room. The Library is having well furnished, reading halls 120 students with the capacity of which is open daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. except holidays. We allow Open Access system the students to directly approach the book shelves and choose the book they desire. Every Year library conducts User Education Program for the students to make them aware of various services and e-resources. On the birth anniversary of former president of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam “Vachan Prerna Din” is celebrated every year with a book exhibition and other activities.

  • - Library has subscribed the E-resources, audio-video through the NLIST service of INFLIBNET the college has access to over 6,000+ e-journals of international eminence and over 31,35,000+ e-books on various subjects, Library under CCTV surveillance.

Library Advisory Committee

  • - The working of the Library is carried out under the guidance of the Library Advisory Committee which is formulated as per the guidelines given by the University Grants Commission. The Committee consists of following members.

  • 1) Chairman:The Principal or his nominee
  • 2) Secretary:The Librarian
  • 3) Members:a) Three heads of the departments. b) Two of three teachers.

  • - The Librarian calls the meeting of the Library Committee as per the directives of the Chairman. The subject wise allocation of budget & the guidelines for the Library working are discussed in the meeting. The guidelines from the Committee help the Librarian for the smooth& efficient working of the Library.

E-RESOURCES: - N-LIST DATABASE

  • The Library Subscribes the E-resources to the N-LIST service of INFLIBNET (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) funded by the MHRD. The college has access to over 6000+ e-journals of international eminence and over 31, 35,000+ e-books on various subjects. Databases from both the sources are accessible globally using login ID and passwords. Students can contact librarian to obtain their login ID and password.

Library Services

1. Open Access :

It provides open access to all library users. They can browse, read the any references in the reference section. It helps users to make full use of the resources available in the library.

2. Reference Services:

Reference Service is an important service offered by the library. It also maintains a collection of reference books consisting of encyclopaedias, dictionaries. On demand reference, service provided to the students & faculty members.

3. Book Lending Service/Computerized Issue – return:

This service is offered to all library users through file maker pro LMS software the resources borrowed from the library shall be returned on or before the due date during library working hours. Its terms and conditions are mentioned in Library Rules and Regulations.

4. User orientation/ Information literacy:

Library conducts orientation programmes for new users. Beginning of the year. How to find different resources by using OPAC, internet and open sources. It is to enable them to use library resources effectively.

5. News-Paper clipping service:

All newspapers are very important news, events, organized by college, achievements of staff & students and other important information are collated from different newspaper properly kept for reference.

6. Reprography/ Photocopy Facility :

On demand the Xeroxing, scanning & printing facility is available and is provided to the users in the library.

7. Online Public Access Catalogue:

Library provides Online Public Access Catalogue Facility to all the Students and Staff of the College.

8. Periodical Service:

The magazines and journals are made available to the users. All the users have to read in library only.

9. Reading Room Facility:

The college library has separate reading rooms for students and staff. The students reading room can accommodate maximum 60 students at a time. This reading room has been well furnished.

10. E- Book & E- Journals Service:

The library provides individual user ID and its password to users for making use of e-resources for INFLIBNET N-LIST and Other databases are made available through IP Based.
