About Department
The Department of Chemistry is one of the oldest science departments in our college established in 1984 and developed under the leadership of several faculties such as Prin. A. P. Aher, Dr A. B. Sawant, Prin. Dr. D. F. Shirude, Prin. Dr. U. B. Kadam, Prin. Dr. T. B. Pawar, Dr R. P. Shewale, Dr A. B. Khairnar, Dr. K. H. Kapadnis, Mr. V R Mandwade, Dr. J. T. Pawar, Dr. T. R. Mahale, Dr. S G Wagh, Mr. V. V. Kadam, Mr. B. B. Bachhav, Dr. A. V. Gajbhiye, Mr. A. U. Nerkar, Mr. R. S. Shinde, Mr. V. S. Aynor, Mrs. C. K. Nerkar, Mr. G. B. Yelmame, Mr. B. N. Mahale, Dr. R. P. The Department has two spacious Laboratories, one Store Room and a Computer with Internet facility. At present, three faculty members are Ph. D. and one is going through his Ph. D. research work. While teaching, Faculties use “Chemsketch” software, LCD projector and “Ball and Stick Model” for better understanding of the subjects to the students. The Department every year organizes Industrial visit for T. Y. B. Sc students. The Department arranged Alumni and Parent Meet.
To update their knowledge, Faculty members participated in National and International Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, FDP etc. and to enrich their profile, they published research papers in reputed journals. Similarly, faculty members together published a text book and a Patent.
The Department has formed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with “Dwarkadhish Sakhar Karkhana, Shevri”, “Dwarkadhish Alcohol Distillery Plant, and Shevri” and with “Divine College of Pharmacy, Satana”.
The Department successfully completed the certificate course on “Dairy Chemistry” in the A. Y. 2017-18, “Chemistry of Soil” in the A. Y. 2019-20 and “Sugar and Alcohol Technology” in the A. Y. 2021-22.
The Best Practice of the Department is a soil analysis for farmers. Under this practice, students collect soil samples from different fields. These samples are then analyzed for few tests in our laboratory as well as in ‘SHEJAMI Pvt. Laboratory’ Soil and Water Testing Centre, Satana. Faculty and our TYBSc students interact and guide to the farmers regarding soil analysis.
